A derelict island, an underwhelming beach and trash everywhere

点评：Visited on a day trip based on reviews from reputable travel guides, but from the minute you step off of the ferry you can see that this island is struggling.
It looks to be almost uninhabited, there are many derelict buildings and the place is just generally run down.
The beach, when you get there, either by foot or by golf cart taxi is completely underwhelming. Yes, the water is a beautiful color, but the beach is covered in trash including broken glass, which is just incredibly sad for a place that could be idyllic. My kid enjoyed wading in the water and thank goodness for that, otherwise it would have been a total loss.
If you are looking for a good family beach day this is not the place, although many reviews will say it is. Services are basic to sub-standard and the locals are generally surly (probably for good reasons).
With so many other good experiences and beautiful places to visit in and around Dubrovnik and Croatia I could not possibly recommend Lopud. Spend your valuable time elsewhere. High effort, low reward.
