点评:On a sunny day, the yellow façade of the Église Saint-Rémi with its elegant twin towers made quite an impression on us, although the inevitable car park in front of the building was somewhat of a let-down. This Romanesque Revival church (with some Byzantine influence in the decoration) was built in the early 1860s to plans by architect Jean François Racine (1827-1902), who also designed several other churches in the region. Somehow, we weren’t as taken by the interior. It looked too cold in its lifeless perfection.
A word of warning: both in the reviews and in the pictures ‘Église Saint-Rémi’ has been confused with another church in Charleville-Mézières (‘Basilique Notre-Dame de l’Espérance’) and with a Saint-Remi church in another town (Reims).
