点评：What a wonderful afternoon spent in the town of Bečov and its castle. Before joining the St. Maurus Shrine tour, we walked around the castle grounds. There is an informative path with small educational plaques in both Czech and English.
Afterwards, we took the self-guided tour, which consists of four parts. Bbe sure to keep your ticket handy, as you will need to scan it multiple times.The first room introduces you to the history of the shrine. In the second room, a gripping 15-minute video tells the exciting story of the shrine's discovery in 1985, accompanied by historical newspaper articles. Behind the screen, you can see a replica of how the shrine was hidden under the chapel floor, alongside the bottles of wine that were concealed with it. The third room features a fascinating video detailing the complex restoration process, along with various related artifacts. Finally, the tour reaches its climax. You will learn about other important shrines across Europe, see the original, heavily damaged wooden core that was buried in the chapel, and ultimately step into the secure deposit to marvel at the priceless, beautifully decorated St. Maurus Shrine itself.
