点评:My wife and I have recently returned from an amazing 4d/3n private Jaguarland tour with Nick’s Adventures.
The wildlife: It was amazing and we saw everything we could have hoped for and more! We saw Jaguar (4 different sightings), Jaguarundi (twice) a distant Puma and Ocelot and well as a memorable close encounter with a Giant Anteater, a sloth rescue from the road en-route and rare sightings of a Tamandua & a Tayra – along with the ubiquitous Capys, Caimen, Rhea other mammals such as sloth, tapir, deer and peccaries and an astonishing variety of bird life and a whole range of primates and reptiles.
The Team: Mauricio (Guide), Cesar (Driver & spotter) & Yetsi (Chef) were all brilliant. Mauricio was an excellent guide and clearly loves his wildlife – his enthusiasm shone through and his delight at some of the sightings was close to our own! Cesar drove us brilliantly and safely and between him and Mauricio’s uncanny spotting skills I’m sure there was little they missed. Yetsi’s food in camp was amazing, plentiful and tasty although we never quite adjusted to the size of the Bolivian lunch!
Jaguarland: Some 5 hours north of Santa Cruz is the private Estancia (Farm) that Nick’s Adventures has exclusive use of for wildlife watching under the self-styled name ‘Jaguarland’. Jaguarland is a working farm and the landscape provides a huge network of often slightly elevated access tracks across a range of different terrains – well managed fields, forested windbreaks, lagoons and irrigation canals as well as a less managed patchwork of scrubland, forest, brush, water, floodplain, and other land. This is excellent for wildlife sightings. The camp is excellent with spacious mosi-proof tents (with fans & electricity), comfortable beds and good toilet/shower facilities plus recently added wifi and internet connectivity. A fully off-grid untamed wilderness experience this is not – Jaguarland is a very remote location, but you are on a working farm and the location of the camp is in proximity to farm buildings but out on drives with the sheer size of the place you could be anywhere. I think Nick’s Adv are entirely open about this and we were expecting it and had no issue with it. I would say some other reviewer’s comments on this are a little unfair.
The Company: We were traveling in Bolivia independently but stayed in the Chairu Eco Hotel in the Equipetrol district of Santa Cruz which was excellent – Nick recommended it and we would too – independent, friendly, smaller and more personal than some of the big chains in the same area. We were picked up from and returned here at the end of the tour. Dealing with the Nick’s company from the UK was easy, communication was great and everything worked smoothly.
