Eastern Bolivia was a true revelation

点评：I recently finished a two-week visit to eastern Bolivia organized by Nick's Adventures Bolivia and I would definitely use them again if (more likely, when) I return to the area. Nick and his team were extremely responsive from the beginning, helping me plan an itinerary that included many different spots I was eager to see, including The Chiquitania, Kaa-Iya Del Gran Chaco National Park, and several stunning locations around Samaipata and Amboró National Park. Guides and drivers were always punctual, friendly, and full of useful information that brought these locations to life. Special thanks go to Santiago, Sezar, Miriam, Aníbal, and our outstanding cook, Helena.
On the map, eastern Bolivia can look sparse and flat, with little to offer travelers drawn to better known destinations like Uyuni and the Andes. That couldn't be further from the truth. Time and again I was amazed by how varied and beautiful the landscapes were here, from the lush fern forests and sandstone cliffs west of Santa Cruz to the rugged beauty of The Chiquitania and the charm of its small villages. The expanse of Kaa-Iya was a highlight of the trip and I won't forget our sightings of jaguars and tapir, or the sounds of monkeys and birds all around us. This is a beautiful and fragile region of South America, often overlooked by travelers, but not by cattle ranchers and other interests that encroach too easily on these lands. Your visit won't just be personally rewarding, but a way to support communities who seemed to take such pride in their home and culture and always appeared eager to share a piece of that with me.
Accommodations were comfortable, food options were terrific, and I always felt safe on the road with my driver, even when road conditions in Bolivia can be a little challenging (actually, that's generally true elsewhere in South America). Thank you again to everyone at Nick's Adventures Bolivia for introducing me to the area and making this such a memorable experience.
