点评:Moving from the station towards the city centre, we come across this glittering Art Nouveau building inaugurated in 1898 and which over the years has become a cultural institution as a venue for important exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. I was enchanted by the spectacular glass and wrought iron dome.
Founded in 1898, it is located in the lower city and is the only gallery that hosts large-scale exhibitions, it was built specifically for this. The bright yellow color of the facades and its majesty attract the attention of passers-by. On the facade you can admire sculptures and busts of Croatian and European masters.
I read that it was first seen in Budapest at an expo and was brought here after. The metal sub frame was first shipped and then constructed it to look the same as the original. This building is gorgeous, magnificent, and just plain beautiful.
The area is surrounded by gardens with park benches. It was raining when we visited, but I would have enjoyed some down time to people watch. It was a busy area with the train station at the other end.
