点评:Wife and I stayed at the Yorktown waterfront hotel this past weekend (8/15/2026). After having a late lunch she suggested walking up to the watermans museum. Soon after entering a man offered us to listen to his talk. Almost instantly I noticed this guy was ill informed on EVERYTHING he was speaking on! Not only was he giving false and very opinionated info. Some was out right lies! He very stated the bay and rivers were practically dead due to pollution from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Apparently we have factories, farms along with MOST homes with no septic systems dumping raw sewage straight into the bay! Be continued to say few watermen were left working ( 3 or 4) in the York river. After which he proudly made fun of say the weren't the brightest bunch and nobody could understand what they were saying. Fact is .... the wild oyster population is rising dramatically every year. There are roughly 600 oystermen .and 800 crabbers. I happen to be a full-time commercial fisherman for over 40 years and live on the ESVA. I was very offended by his attitude and lack of real knowledge. The museum should be a place of learning not a place of bashing people who are different than him. We left quickly without saying a word but this guy needs to find something else to do. Hopefully in the future the curator will replace him.
