点评:Excellent Staff, but the Course Is Nearly Unplayable
I take no pleasure in writing this review, but the present condition of Reems Creek Golf Club needs to be described honestly.
First, the staff is excellent. The people working in the golf shop, clubhouse and throughout the property have consistently been friendly, welcoming and professional. They are not the problem, and they deserve to work at a course maintained to the same high standard they bring to members and guests.
Unfortunately, the golf course itself is currently in terrible condition and, in numerous areas, nearly unplayable.
The rough immediately surrounding several greens has been allowed to grow so high that balls landing only a short distance off the putting surface cannot be found. That is not a minor cosmetic issue—it interferes with normal play, slows down the course and causes golfers to lose balls after perfectly reasonable shots. These critical playing areas are not being mowed or maintained properly or consistently.
Several fairways are so saturated that balls landing in them plug deeply and completely disappear. During recent round, I lost 4 premium golf balls from shots that landed in the fairways. This has occurred despite the area not receiving enough recent rain to reasonably explain such widespread saturation.
There are tractor tracks and deep tire ruts throughout the course, along with displaced mud that has accumulated into uneven ridges. Many of these damaged areas appear to have been left without being leveled, marked or repaired. Golfers are restricted to cart paths supposedly to protect the turf, while maintenance equipment is visibly creating additional damage in the fairways. I also watched sprinklers watering fairways that were already muddy and saturated.
The greens, which were once among the course’s strongest features and could fairly be described as pristine, have deteriorated considerably. Crabgrass and other invasive turf are overtaking portions of the putting surfaces, and the greens are no longer being maintained or mowed to the standard one should expect.
I understand that new ownership inherited problems, but the course is even worse sense thier transition. Major infrastructure work takes time. However, future projects does not explain excessively high rough around the greens, widespread equipment ruts that appear to be ignored, poor mowing practices or the lack of visible attention to damaged playing areas.
Reems Creek has a beautiful layout and tremendous potential, and its outstanding staff remains a genuine strength. But potential and promises do not make the course playable today. The current maintenance standard does not justify the cost of a full-price round.
Until there is substantial, visible improvement—I cannot recommend playing here. The bottom line is simple: the course is currently neglected and nearly unplayable.
Reems Creek
