点评：Uppark is a National Trust property, and as such it relies on volunteers. If there aren't enough volunteers they can't open the house or have to close those rooms without a volunteer present. This is apparently a condition of the insurance in case of theft. So, it is unfortunately a long way to travel only to find on arrival that half the house is shut. Those volunteers that were there were absolutely lovely and welcoming though. The second thing that let it down was that it was so dark inside the house you could barely see anything. All the curtains are closed and they have no lighting to illuminate the paintings. Finally, as National Trust properties go, the gardens are one of the least inspring. I feel bad giving a poor rating as the volunteers are so nice and working so hard, but there's just so many better Trust places to visit.
