点评:We did this walk from The Swan with our two children aged 11 and 8. Our walk was 1st a November. It was a very coal morning (to begin with) but we had to take a slight detour from our planned route due to flooding in the path which became a torrent of rain water! The route up took us alongside Sourmilk Gill which was in full flow due to the rains. The path up was literally a stream and we got wet. The tarn itself was beautiful. There was a ready stream of walkers but due to the time of year it wasn’t busy at all. We wanted to walk around the tarn and come down on the opposite side of the waterfall but due to rains etc, all tributaries into the lake was a torrent mess and the ground boggy. We ended up almost walking up the opposite fell trying to find somewhere to cross but it was too dangerous. So we started our descent down - just as the clouds above opened! Due to the rain etc it was a difficult journey down. I can imagine it being easier in the summer but doubt you would get the spectacular waterfall etc. I would recommend the walk - even when it rains - to anyone wanting to see the tarn. Our children managed it and there were other children managing too.
