点评:Monday 22nd September and we were sightseeing and exploring the sights of Ibiza including the Old Town (Dalt Vila), UNESCO-listed and it's historic Castle.
The Castle dates back to the 12th Century and has had several rulers Moorish, Roman and Catalan. It has had as equally as many uses including a military stronghold, royal residence, and defensive fortification.
We passed through Porta de Ses Taules, the entrance gate, to the Old Town and the way up to top the Castle.
We made away along the narrow cobbled streets of the Old Town, that were lined with shops and bars, we passed ancient old buildings including Catedral de Santa Maria.
At the time of our visit a number of the building were closed as we were here on a Monday. On the other days some close between 14.00 and 16.30.
Despite this we did enjoy walking around the iconic old Castle and it's battlements and many towers. We walked around the network of connected bastions, battlements, including Baulard de Sant Bernat, Baulard de Sant Jaume and Sant Jordi. Along the battlements were a number of strategically placed old cannons in defencive positions.
From the top of the Castle there were amazing panoramic views over Ibiza Town and the Mediterranean Sea.
