少女峰的点评
点评：Jungfraujoch was one of the top highlights on our trip to Switzerland and a must-see if you are in the area. Once you arrive at the top, a suggested route includes visiting the Sphinx observatory, an ice cavern, and multiple places where you can walk outside. Other than the Sphinx observatory, all the other outdoor stops do involve walking on snow that can be slippery. While at the outdoor portion of the Sphinx observatory, do be careful not to drop anything as you are walking on metal grates; I did see someone have their earbuds slip right through the grates.
The views are stunning throughout your visit with many photo opportunities of the surrounding snow-covered mountains. However, do check the weather forecasts and check the summit webcams to make sure you have clear weather before heading up.
Our visit took place during shoulder season in late April. Hence, we did not have to buy tickets in advance or reserve seats for the train up to Jungfrajoch. Not reserving seats had the advantage of allowing us to visit all the attractions at a relaxed pace and allowing us to adjust our schedule in the event of bad weather. Overall, we stayed 5 hours including a stop for lunch. Aside from dining, there were many shops throughout the complex at the summit. Admission is pricey, but don’t forget to consider the Swiss train pass or half fare pass that can give you a considerable discount.
We arrived by car and parked at Grindelwald Terminal. The indoor parking lot was huge and directly connected to the terminal for the Eiger Express cable car. The terminal itself has some stores including a small Coop. From the Eiger Express, you will need to transfer to the train that takes you to the top. On the way up, there is a brief stop where you can get off the train and peer out windows to see the surrounding landscape.
