Best Places to Eat in Truckee, Northstar, and Lake Tahoe

点评：I went to a friend’s wedding on a mountaintop at the Northstar ski resort in June, 2026. Northstar is just a few miles south of Truckee, California. Northstar is a ghost town from the end of ski season to June 13 when the mountain is opened to mountain bikers who swarm the resort.
Best places to eat in Northstar are Copper Lane Café and Rubicon Pizza. The Café is an excellent breakfast and sandwich restaurant known for their smoked meats. It’s also a general store with beer, wine, liquor and everything else you forgot to pack. Rubion offers great big pizzas at reasonable prices and full bar. Just around the mountain is the Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe hotel. Try the upstairs bar for fine crafted drinks and a great menu.
In Truckee, try FiftyFifty Brewing Company with their wide selection of home brews and tasty bar food.
South to Lake Tahoe, the first settlement you come to is Kings Beach right at the top of the lake. In the mood for tacos? La Mexicana is the place for you just one block north of the main drag and plenty of curbside parking. Don’t be afraid of the lengua (tongue) tacos—delicate delicious meat! For upscale dining, you’ll find Gar Woods Grill & Pier. A big place with indoor and outdoor seating. Great food and service!
Be sure to take a lake cruise and have a dog and beer at Zephyr Cove bar and restaurant, before you board. The dock is just north of South Lake Tahoe. Have fun eating and sight-seeing well!
