点评:A cute little museum in an old convent next to a big church. This is the original Museo del Ambar de Chiapas, not to be confused with the new one that is on a corner near the park.
You need less than an hour to see the whole thing. Depends on how much time you spend looking thru magnifying glasses at the insects caught in the amber. :)
I think the ticket seller did say I could get a tour or pamphlet in English, but I choose to look by myself and translate the signs.
Amazing collection of amber in many forms -- raw, carved into jewelry and figurines, and lots with insects trapped inside.
The price is now 50 pesos. There are signs indicating that the ticket cost is to restore the old convent -- not sure why they need to do that. Maybe they have plans to expand or something?
But there was a cat there and It got to pet it, so it was worth the price of admission! :D
