点评：My friend and I visited Walt Whitman Birthplace on a quiet Thursday morning and it was glorious. I highly recommend for any fans of the poet or American history, and certainly anyone living on Long Island should go as well. We got a PRIVATE TOUR -just the two of us! Ask for Barbara Nelson, who was amazing and taught us so much -not only about Walt and his times, but also about American and even world history. The grounds are gorgeous and it's such a hidden gem. Don't be fooled by the view from the street -GO INSIDE! We paid $10 entrance fee for each -very in expensive and well worth the investment. The tour lasted 1.5 hours, but we had many questions. Barbara was very patient with us and really took her time to answering all our questions. We also both picked up fun souvenirs at the gift shop, which is a great place for Christmas presents in my opinion. I really cannot say a bad word about this place or how it is run -they know what they're doing here preserving our great literary history! I intend to return for a special event or two!
