A Fascinating Stop, Religious or Not
National Shrine of Our Lady of Knock的点评
点评：I got to experience the National Shrine of Our Lady of Knock as part of my Irish Adventure tour run by CIE Tours (you can read my review of the amazing Irish Adventure tour on CIE’s TripAdvisor page). I am so delighted that I got to visit the National Shrine of Our Lady of Knock.
We began our visit in the small town of Knock, where, on August 21, 1879, it is said that the Virgin Mary appeared at the church. Fifteen villagers witnessed the apparition, which reportedly lasted about two hours, and accounts describe a radiant light surrounding the scene so bright it could be seen from miles away.
Today, the site is a major pilgrimage destination for Catholics from around the world. One of the most powerful aspects of the visit is seeing the preserved section of the original gable wall where the apparition is believed to have occurred.
Even as someone who isn’t particularly religious, I found the history and significance of this place fascinating. It’s a unique stop that offers both cultural and spiritual insight into Ireland’s heritage.
