点评：Riding a scenic high mountain railroad should be part of your plans when in the rocky mountains of Colorado. The Leadville Railroad will be a highlight of your trip. Its a 2.5 hour round trip ride that takes you from historic Leadville up to nearly 11000 feet along an old mining route. You can ride in open or closed cars. We did open on a beautiful day and staked out a spot on the left hand side of the train in direction of travel. The train climbs above the Arkansas River valley and provides in incredible vista including excellent views of Mount Elbert- Colorados highest mountain. The refreshments car is a good stop. They make delicious hot dogs and hamburgers to order and have soft drinks and local beers for purchase. The conductor provides very interesting historical perspectives and is entertaining. The train also stops just below the highest point of travel on the return trip to allow you to get out, stretch legs and take photos. It returns to Leadville which is a fun town to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. Cost is about $65 and adult with some discounts for kids and others. Its more than worth the cost. I actually enjoyed it more than the Pikes Peak Railway.
