点评:My partner and I are in our mid-seventies. We took part in a ranger-led tour starting at noon on a warm January day. It was much more interesting learning through the rangers about how the Cahuilla idigenous people used the different plants in the canyon for food and medicine. We also saw mortar stones (metates) where generations of Cahuilla women had ground seed pods and leaves to make food.
We were grateful for our guides suggesting use of a hiking pole and hat or visor. I'm pretty hardy at hiking, but rather petite, while my much taller partner is no longer as strong as he once was. Some of the rocks on the path force you to take pretty big steps up or down, so take your time, drink water and you'll be fine.
I can't say enough good things about our ranger guides, Darren and Joel. Not only were they each extremely knowledgeable, but they were super attentive to making it a safe and secure hiking experience for us, "Ahem!," oldsters. They deserve a raise!
The experience was truly a highlight of our brief visit!
