点评：A Different Grand Canyon View and a Tower Worth Climbing
Desert View Watchtower was a great stop and gave us a chance to experience a very different part of the Grand Canyon from the areas around Grand Canyon Village.
The views from Desert View are spectacular, but the Watchtower itself is the highlight. We had a short wait to go inside, and it was absolutely worth it. Climbing through the tower and seeing the canyon from the upper levels adds something unique to the experience. The architecture and interior details are also fascinating and make this much more than just another scenic overlook.
The facilities here were excellent as well. There were clean bathrooms, a nice trading post and a cafe, making it an easy place to spend a little more time or take a break during a day of exploring.
We were traveling in a 32-foot RV, and parking was no problem. There was plenty of space available for RVs, which made this an especially convenient stop as we were leaving the South Rim toward Monument Valley.
If you’re visiting the Grand Canyon, I would definitely recommend making the drive out to Desert View rather than limiting your visit to Grand Canyon Village. The different perspective of the canyon combined with the experience of going inside the Watchtower makes it well worth the stop.
