点评:The Neka Art Museum is one of Ubud’s major art museums. I first visited it many years ago and came away deeply impressed. When I returned this September, however, the experience felt quite different.
Over the years, I have gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of Balinese art, so naturally I found myself looking at the works of these renowned artists from a different perspective. Paintings that I might once have simply admired visually now seemed to carry more meaning, making this return visit particularly rewarding.
Besides its extensive collection of paintings, Neka also has a gallery dedicated to traditional keris daggers. From time to time, the museum also hosts other temporary art exhibitions, adding further variety to a visit.
After exploring the museum, I stopped by the gift shop. I was a little disappointed that there were not many art-inspired or creative souvenirs available, but I still managed to pick up several books on Balinese culture, some reproductions of works by well-known artists, and two thumb drives bearing the Neka name.
And with that, my little journey through Balinese art at Neka came to an end.
