Nice museum with the story of Milwaukee's immigrant communities
Milwaukee County Historical Society的点评
点评:This is a pretty good museum that focuses on the story of Milwaukee's growth through immigration. They have converted an old bank building for the purpose, and it's basically one floor of displays on each ethnic group that has come and settled in the city from the 1800s through the present. It's nothing too deep, and probably aimed more at school kids, but each group has a section talking about why they settled in Milwaukee, plus a display case or two with some items symbolic of that culture. It starts with the Germans and Poles in 1830 and goes right through teh Afghans and Somalis today. It's off the normal tourist path, and was almost empty when I visited. That said, you can walk around all the different displays in under an hour easily. Admission was $8. It's good for a visit if you have some extra time downtown during a stay in MKE.
