点评:I have visited the Abbey itself before but climbed the 199 steps for exercise and to take some photos. Naively, just before making my descent, I bought from the ice cream van parked in from of the Abbey gates a small tub of vanilla soft ice cream with a small artificial chocolate flake in it. I didn't see any prices displayed...just pictures, I handed over a ten pound note, imagining that I would receive something like six or seven pounds back. The charming young lady took my note and handed me the ice cream asking if I had a one pound coin...so she could give me five pounds change. Only as I inwardly reflected did I realise I had paid six pounds for a small tub of ice cream and a cheap flake. I shall be wiser in the future, but I had previously had a good experience buying from an ice cream van near the station and assumed the prices would be roughly comparable here. Be warned if, like me, you need warning! There are lots of good ice cream shops in Church Street.
