点评：Little Venice reminded us of the illustrations we have seen as little children, in fairy tale books with extremely beautiful half-timber buildings. Similar to that of Colmar old town these buildings also had a unique character in the way they have used timber in their construction. We admired the designs created with timber like the curule, X forms, diagonal or slanting, inverted V and V, Mann form, “Lozenge” or Cross and diamond, simple vertical beams etc. Roof tiles too were very interesting in design with their curved Beaver's tail type ends. With the Christmas market in full swing the area had a carnival atmosphere where everyone seems to enjoy the cold with fun activity.
Even with the crowds it was not too difficult to get about to visit the market hall -housing many stalls and wayside shops selling various items. We had some very tasty cheese from one shop where the seller was quite eager to push more cheese than what we asked for and had delightfully tasting crepes from another. The mulled wine was tailor made for the cold evening. The court house (Tribunal de Grande Instance de Colmar) was lit up to appear in a shade of beautiful pink becoming a part of the festive atmosphere.
River Lauch which skirted the Little Venice on one side was an added attraction to the area. There were many docks along the river for anyone to join boat rides.
