点评：The team of volunteers at the Strathspey Steam Railway are highly motivated and do a top job.
We had reserved seats for a Saturday at the beginning of October and storm Amy happened to sweep across Scotland the night before. ScotRail came to a total standstill until Saturday evening and had extremely reduced services until Monday morning. Weather conditions on Saturday were still very windy and rainy. All that had no effect on the Strathspey team! We had to take a taxi to get to Aviemore, but the steam railway was running as usual.
I love steam trains and had reserved the full monty: first class seats and a light lunch during the journey. The first class compartments were perfectly prepared and the in-train staff were very friendly and efficient. The "light lunch" (soup followed by sandwiches and tea or coffee) was more than enough for us (but we are not big luncheoners, I have to admit). The toilets in the first class carriage were clean and perfectly functional. The locomotive crew were also highly responsive to people asking questions or looking for photo opportunities. It was clear that all the behind-the-scenes staff / volunteers were doing great jobs (for example washing dishes or running the souvenir shop). Because of Amy, there was no electricity at the last stop station, so the itinerary was adapted: the train stayed at Boat of Garten station for a long time to allow passengers to use the station toilets and visit the locomotive.
