点评:The cathedral itself is nice enough and the stain glass window is lovely when the light shines through. Like most cathedrals, the architecture is interesting and a statement of how we used to be able to build magnificent buildings. It was a shame to see that the building opposite, which presumably used to belong to the Church, had been turned into a pub, but sadly I think it's a sign of the times.
We went to the lunch time concert, which was free. The seating was ok but they had locked the seats together, so you could not move the seat to get more room and make more space between you and the person sat next to you. I liked the way they had marked out some disabled seating though, which did have separate seats.
The concert itself was two young ladies, one playing piano and the other playing violin. Whilst you can't really complain as it was free after all and good that the Cathedral puts this sort of thing on for people, and the two young ladies were technically very accomplished, each piece pretty much sounded the same and for me lacked oomph and did not spiritually up lift me or impress me, as much as other musical pieces. I think they would have been better mixing up some of the styles of music they were playing. My partner and his mother also shared the same sentiment, in that technically it was accomplished and it was pleasant enough but all the pieces sounded samey.
The music was very twee and whimsical and pleasant but didn't leave a big impression or invoke emotion.
