Amazing special but unique museum
Killer Whale Museum的点评
点评：I had a planned visit to Eden to carry out research into Imlay brothers role in 1830s in establishing a land based whaling station.Their pioneering efforts was no doubt assisted by two of the brothers arriving in Australia as naval surgeons so they had seafaring expertise and the discipline of a naval background.Their role is well documented in the museum.
The museum itself for a small coastal town is extraordinary and even though there is no longer a resident orca population it succinctly and simply takes you on a journey of the whale industry its operations and activities and the financial benefits.
I do have to thank Angela George curator of the museum for preparing documents in anticipation of my visit.her passion drive and positivity have obviously placed this museum truly on the map of places to visit.I was fortunate tand grateful that the delightful and may I say patient museum volunteer Chris Bingham assisted me as we waded through voluminous documents on Imlay brothers.Also a big thankyou to Luke who took some images.
I attach some of the well laid out wall descriptions which allude to Imlay brothers but equally show how the layout is such it can only attract visitors
