点评：Besakih (Pura Besakih) is a temple complex in the village of Besakih on the slopes of Mount Agung in eastern Bali, Indonesia. It is the most important and largest temple of the Hindu religion in Bali. Situated almost 1,000 metres up the slope of Mount Agung, it is a vast complex of 23 separate but interconnected temples, the largest and most important of which is Pura Penataran Agung. The temple is built on six levels, terraced up the slope. The entrance is marked by a candi bentar gate, behind which is another kori agung gate into a second courtyard. Most of the time, the sun is hidden behind clouds here, and the temperature is 5 degrees Celsius lower than on the coast. Local people from the coast consider the area cool. The exact origins of the temple are unclear, but its significance as a holy place almost certainly dates to prehistoric times. The stone foundations of Pura Penataran Agung and several other temples resemble megalithic step pyramids that are at least 2,000 years old.
