Day trip to Xilamuren Grassland from Hohhot 🌾✨
希拉穆仁草原的点评
点评：We took the local bus—tricky but memorable! 🚍💨 At first we bought tickets to the wrong stop, but the driver helped us out by letting us pay the balance. Pro tip: wear a mask on the bus, as smoking and spitting are common. Return fare was RMB56 per person.
At the Xilamuren tourist centre, out of sudden, the bus driver’s sister (bus driver words) picked us up and brought us to her resort. The Mongolian yurts here aren’t original, but set up for tourists. We paid RMB80 per person for lunch and a short rest in the yurt. The meal included milk tea, goat meat, vegetables, and fermented mare’s milk 马奶酒. Altogether with extras, we spent RMB310.
The real highlight was horseback riding 🐎💨. The grassland wasn’t as green as in the brochures in September, but the wide open space, cool winds, and fresh scenery made it special. We even had a nice chat with our Han Chinese horse coach during the ride, which lasted nearly an hour. The signboard price was RMB380 per horse, but we only paid RMB200 since it was low season.
