TRULY OUTSTANDING IN EVERY RESPECT
Highcliffe Castle的点评
点评：One of the best tourist experiences I've had for many years. Last time I was in the area many years ago, the castle was still in ruins. Today, its been restored and staffed by outstanding volunteers who know with in-depth knowledge the castle's history and its restoration. Every one of them was cheerful, polite and happy to help with any questions.
You start with a short video and then are allowed to wander at leisure. We were there for 2 hours and enjoyed our experience immensely. Clean toilet facilities are available and there is a fabulous independently-run café next door that serves first class coffee and some expertly made cakes and pastries. No Costa or Starbucks here selling mass-produced rubbish.
After the castle, we walked down to the beach which was beautiful, barely 7-8 minutes walk down the cliff path. Spent an hour walking along the beach as far as Friars Cliff c. 1.5 miles return. You can see The Needles on the Isle of Wight.
In summary, a magnificent experience - castle, cafe and walk. The volunteers in the castle and those responsible over many years in the restoration project ought to be well proud of themselves and their achievements,
