Fantastic afternoon immersed in history!
Highcliffe Castle的点评
点评：I spent 3 hours at Highcliffe Castle this afternoon as it was recommended to me and it was one of the most relaxing and historically interesting afternoons I have ever had!
I started with lunch in the Pantry (cafe/restaurant) which served a really wide range of full meals, pastries, and drinks. The lady who served me was so friendly and chatty and my vegan sausage roll was delicious.
I then had a tour around the castle (the tour was included in my standard entry ticket) with Catherine who was extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of the castle’s history, background, the people who lived and built it, and the architecture. She really brought the castle to life and her anecdotes were illuminating and entertaining.
The time flew by and I really felt that I had stepped back in time and learnt a huge amount, not just about the castle but about the last 250 or so years of British and European History. It really made me see key historical events through a different lens and appreciate our heritage.
There is so much to see and do at the Castle, including great children’s activities, and I thoroughly recommend bringing the whole family for a full day out.
I look forward to returning in the Summer to explore the grounds and have another delicious lunch!
