点评：I had 2 nights at Haldon Belvedere in October 26. It has to be the most unique place I've ever stopped. As soon as I picked up the keys and drove up the driveway, it felt very special. I'd visited it before as a wedding guest at my cousins wedding so it wasn't new to me but stopping there was. I loved the tranquillity of the setting, high up on a hill in Haldon Forest with short and longer walks in the forest to choose from. From the castle turret the views out over Dartmoor, Exeter, Haldon Forest and the river Exe are stunning. The accommodation was all I could ask for with a large central room with a comfortable bed and lovely period furniture, a bathroom with views from 3 arched windows and even a small kitchenette to prepare food (which you will probably need as it's miles from anywhere !). You need to be prepared for the 73 steps up to the accommodation via the winding spiral staircase and then the further 27 steps up to the turret but for most this will not be a problem. During my visit I witnessed the friendly volunteers maintaining the grounds in such a good condition. This is a public monument, so during the day there are people around but at night it's all yours !
