A decent golf course with a couple of silly holes and a lot of very hard walking.

点评：The golf course is served by the Golf Lodge, several hundred yards from the hotel and its main car park. The lodge has a bar with snacks, locker rooms and a good supply of golf buggies.
The staff in the lodge were all very young and (unlike the hotel staff), rather disinterested.
The golf course is set in delightful, undulating countryside with sweeping views. It was in good condition, but the greens were incredibly, frustratingly slow. There were several blind drives and a couple of holes that were rather silly. And some of the distances between green and tee were inordinately long. In short, the course was OK for a weekend away - with a buggy - but it's not somewhere I would ever consider playing regularly.
A bit more about the buggies. There are basic ones (£30) and GPS ones (£40). Our party had booked a dozen basic buggies, but on the second day the disinterested staff in the lodge had released them to other golfers before we arrived. Annoying, but £10 isn't such a big deal. Except that we very soon discovered that there are no-go areas on the course where the GPS buggies just stop and refuse to move. Holes where you can't get close to a ball sitting in the middle of the fairway.
