Use the 110 Peabody Place Garage for better rates ($1/hour) and avoid more expensive options like the 250 Peabody Garage, which can cost $12.26 for a 90-minute stay.
Also, keep in mind that some hotel doors are exit-only. Upon entering, head to the Grand Lobby to find a seat before the "March of the Peabody Ducks". At the center is the Peabody Fountain, where five North American mallard ducks splish-splash from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. At five o'clock, the Duckmaster escorts them back to their "Duck Palace" rooftop penthouse to the tune of John Philip Sousa's "King Cotton March".
The show lasts only about 90 seconds, so secure a spot early; it will be over before you know it. To snag front-row seats along the red carpet, arrive by 9:30-10 a.m. or 3:30-4 p.m. The lobby bar is a great alternative, but arrive at least an hour early. Note that standing may be restricted in certain areas to keep views clear for seated guests.
While waiting, try a Rubber Ducky Cocktail (Malibu rum, creme de banana, pineapple juice and orange juice). It comes with a complimentary miniature rubber duck, though you can add one to any other drink for an extra $2. Finally, while Chez Philippe is the hotel's premier French restaurant, it famously does not serve duck out of respect for the feathered residents. If you want a memento, souvenir "Blue Suede" rubber ducks are available in the lobby gift shop.
