Hightower Creek Vineyards的点评
点评：During our visit to Young Harris, Georgia this year, we were fortunate enough to had been able to visit three nearby vineyards. We visited one in Young Harris, another in Blairsville and the last one we visited was in Hiawassee, Georgia. Of all three vineyards we visited, Hightower Creek was the least scenic. However, it was the most memorable one for us in a good way.
We would like to point out that our visit was in early November and all the grapes have been harvested. In term of the view, it was not much to look at. None of that really mattered once we entered the tasting room. We were greeted by a charmingly friendly gentleman by the name Randon Myers. We went to Hightower Creek Vineyard specifically for the meads. However, because or Randon’s warm personality, we ended up purchasing about three quarter of the tasting categories.
That was a lot of wines and meads to discuss here. Please allow us to share three of our absolute favorites.
1. Toasty Knight (mead): This mead was semi-sweet with light floral notes that brought out the smokey flavor from pear wood. Toasted Knight would be a ridiculously delicious drink to sip around a campfire.
2. Blushing Fox (NV blush wine): This wine was fermented using Catawba grapes. Blushing Fox was a somewhat dry wine with a slight front end sweetness. The crown jewel of this wine was the ever-present muskiness mingling among tropical fruits and Granny Smith apples nuances.
3. 2021 Deliverance: A blend of Merlot, Norton and Cabernet Sauvignon. This was a bold red wine with rich aroma of dark berries, baked plum pudding with fall spices. If served at room temperature, this wine will work well with beef pot roast. It will also willingly play with semi-sweet chocolate if served chilled due to the spice nuances in the flavor profiles.
4. Winters at Hightower (NV red blend): This was a sweetened wine. Notes of brown sugar with cinnamon and cloves may turn some tasters off. We are not sweet wine drinkers. However, we purchased a bottle of Winters at Hightower as part of our holiday sangria ingredients this coming Christmas.
