Another City Temple
南普陀寺的点评
点评：My wife and I walked slowly from the Overseas Chinese Museum (TA reviewed). We passed by the steps down to Cat Street which didn’t look much different than 2 years ago and would probably still be just as disappointing.
We eventually reached the temple entrance and had to register on-line using their ‘app’ to arrange our visit. My wife was able to register that she was a party of two, and thankfully, I’d got my passport in my man-bag, which the girl on the gate just glanced at and waved me in.
Despite all of the registering palaver the temple was heaving. We just followed the crowd from temple to temple. Be aware, there are plenty of steps.
As ever, look up to see the best of the architecture and colours. I really do love the ceilings and roofs, and the blue, yellow and red decorations. I regretted I had no turtle or fish food in my man-bag as I’m sure they’d have appreciated that more than me lighting an incense stick.
In the souvenir shop, my wife splashed out on a Buddha necklace which will ensure good luck, and so far, it has reminded her not to leave her rucksack in cabs and restaurants.
After a good hour we were at the exit and got a cab back to our hotel.
