It’s free. There’s no admission fees nor tickets.
There’s a lot of walking here. Be prepared with a good pair of walking sneakers.
It’s still a must visit although it has become very commecialised.
The ancient houses has turned in commercial stores. There will be some who are still trying to flee tourists (like RMB1.28 per gramme written in Mandarin…), I did come across a few traders who are very honest & sincere.
I do like some of the food & beverages sold there, especially the boiled pear & dates. It was drizzling & a bit windy at 9 degrees C when I visited, therefore a beverage as such is so warming & comforting. We did end up buying some special blend tea ( taste good), souvenir & food. I’ll try to look elsewhere to get these special blended tea where the price may be cheaper…although my friends said whatever tea there is… it’s available online.
What I like about this place is some of these houses & infrastructure are preserved…and this place happened to be a harbour for trade. You may look at the photos I’ve included.
There’s a Baolun temple in Ciqikou worth visiting. We spent half a day here and I think we hardly cover 50% of the area. There are a lot of shops we didn’t go have a look at the side before the entrance to the ancient town.
I’m hoping I could return for a 2nd visit.
