点评：As you enter St. Paul's, the grotto on the right is exceptional -- the rough-hewn architecture seems unique, offering a remarkable introduction to the church grounds. Not to be missed. Inside the church, the nave is filled with Baroque paintings and wood sculptures from the Counter-Reformation, dominated by the works of Rubens and his contemporaries. There is a unique opportunity here: two works, the Flagellation of Rubens, and The Carrying of the Cross by the eighteen-year old Van Dyke, have been removed from their places high on the Main Altar and are viewable at eye height .... once in a lifetime chance to see the Flagellation and notice brushstrokes, details and the painterly quality that is invisible when the work is mounted fifty feet away on the altar. Although the Church is being renovated until 2027, the guides are extremely interesting and offer a history, theology and explanation of the church that is fascinating. Bravo! The highlights of the Church include paintings by Jordaens, De Vos, Teniers and wonderful wood confessionals and Stations of the Cross, along with a Cloisters and a Treasury containing world-class examples liturgical silver embedded with gold and diamonds. St. Paul's is a perfect combination of artistic masterpieces and contemporary devotion. Located within easy walking distance of Grote Markt and the Cathedral.
