点评:Visited Jinci when I was in Taiyuan in August 2025 (not sure why it's spelt differently on TripAdvisor, seems to be a mistranscription). The whole place was on the outskirts of the city with no public transport, so I had to take a taxi. But it was well worth it. The overall grounds were green and well-kept. The main attraction, the Hall of the Holy Mother, looked majestic and was a lot bigger in person. It’s a structure that has continuously been standing since the Song Dynasty and, to my understanding, authentic. There were one or two other structures that also have continuously stood for around a thousand years, as well as many long-standing trees.
The other structures were mainly from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There was one building that’s quite popular for being featured in a movie. The whole area was well-built up, and there are plenty of facilities such as food kiosks, bathrooms, and signposts. Overall, I’d argue it’s a must visit in Taiyuan for both its historical authenticity and beautiful architecture.
