Ronnie Scott's酒吧的点评
点评：Have been a member of Ronnie Scott’s now for well over 10 years- probably nearer 15-having immediately purchased membership after going for the very first time- I loved it that much! That performance was Nathalie Williams Soul Family, and her residencies still remain my favourite shows- I go multiple times a year just for her!
I’m not a serious old school Jazz lover, preferring more modern jazz and soul/funk vibes…but Ronnie’s always has something for everyone. Over the years I have seen countless acts from Macy Gray, Ruby Turner and Peter Cincotti to Incognito, Omar, Booker T and even reggae and hip hop bands….I just love the diversity! I’ve also been to lunch time vocal and chat sessions with people like Anton du Beke…. Really, Ronnie’s is the club that keeps on giving!
The vibe is old school chic and the setting is super intimate - being so close to the acts on stage is incomparable to anywhere else I’ve been. In addition, if you hang around a little after the show, the acts sometimes come out into the foyer for chats and photo ops, which is always the icing on the cake!
The service and food are also consistently excellent, as is the friendly welcome at the door by the bouncers outside and the maitre d who allocates your table on arrival. And this is the catch with Ronnie’s- you cannot choose your seats in advance- you book a ticket - either standard, priority or restricted view, and the maitre d allocates the actual seats on a first come first serve basis. (Note - if you know the club and have a preference where to sit, the maitre d will seat you there if available, if you ask) I have sat in all areas in the past, but only book priority now as they have the best location/views. Standard seating is fine if just two of you, but if you go as a group it’s not ideal as you will all be sat in a row on bench type seating to the sides. If you go priority, you get a table.
Bit of a waffly review, but in a nutshell, Ronnie Scott’s is my absolute favourite place to go for an afternoon or evening out….great vibes, fab food and service, and the best musicians in the world.
Being a member affords the privilege of priority booking (as well as other perks such as the members queue and discounted tickets), and this has been invaluable for me to see the big names that sell out instantly. In fact, I’ve never been to any show at Ronnie’s that wasn’t sold out!
Final thought- get there early. The queues start forming around 1/2 hour before doors open…. And be prepared to wait even longer to get in, especially if you are not a member, as they let all members in first. The wait will be worth it though…..guaranteed!
