点评:I planned this to be one of my must-sees when visiting Kaifeng, which is admittedly not on most people's itineraries. The grounds themselves are very small; tickets have to be bought at the counter; and it's not near other major attractions.
Nevertheless it lived up to my expectations. The tower itself is an authentic building dating from before 1000 AD with little alterations. It's dotted heavily with miniature images of the Buddha. There were few other visitors and there were no tourist trappings, making it a very authentic and peaceful experience. It's possible to go inside the ground floor where there is a small shrine and some staff manning it. Otherwise it's not possible to ascend to higher floors, at least when I visited.
I spent probably 45 minutes at the place. When I left, the taxi driver thought I probably did not enjoy the place, and remarked that most others did not either. But I begged to differ. It was one of the highlights of Kaifeng for me. While I won't recommend it for most travellers, for those with an interest in authentic historical structures, I consider this one to check off the list.
