Loved the Outside, But The Full Entry Is Maybe 80 CZK Too Much
St Barbara's Cathedral的点评
点评：Being that there were more of us this time and the entrance fee was maybe twice as high as the Silesian-Ostrava castle (and there was no discount on either), I didn't step inside this time, but I did get a good view of the outside.
On the other hand, from the outside it is free, and not only does the church's Gothic architecture look cool as heck from the outside (and all polished up), but the surrounding area is picturesque and pretty too, for those who like to take pictures.
While it doesn't have any play areas specifically for children, they can run around, and there are lots of ice cream shops and cafes nearby where you can bribe them with sweet stuff. In pleasant weather, it's a lovely place to visit; when it's raining, maybe take a raincoat or umbrella. The gardens are pretty too, and it doesn't take much time to walk around it and the surrounding buildings — maybe a few hours. Some areas are more accessible than others, but all in all it's a pleasant enough area.
My main frustration about this experience wasn't even with the Cathedral itself — rather some American idiot assuming the locals didn't appreciate their own cathedrals, castles, and the likes because to them it was supposedly everyday and normal. For many reasons, this is not true for many people, even if not everyone goes out of their way to visit places which can sometimes be expensive and even more so with tourists unintentionally hiking up the prices in the area for everything including accommodation. It dampened my enthusiasm considerably for the rest of that day. I'd recommend tourists not assume anything about the locals when visiting. It's rude, and some of them DO understand English.
