点评：Our experience in Zanzibar has culminated with a visit to Zanzibar’s only national park. The tourist experience is generally, terribly organised, unless you are the social media generation, which will be happy taking mobile phone images of the tame monkeys near the reception. They then get back into the minibuses and leave. It was an awful experience sitting in a minibus traffic jam
The guides and authorities are colluding with this ignorance and are becoming de-skilled. We had to persuade and persist getting a guide to escort us into the forest. In fact, there were raised voices in Swahili at the reception as they appeared to argue over who would take our small group into the forest.
Our visit was redeemed with an excellent guide called Adam. He was motivated by our interest in the forest. We feel that the best way to enjoy the forest is to get there well before the throngs of tourists and do the half day hike.
They won’t allow you into the forest without a guide. They say that this is due to two foreigners getting lost for two days some years back. However, there is no reason why they can’t create trails, walks and maps of the area. I really doubt that any money given by tourism goes into the parks infrastructure and development.
