Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park的点评
点评：Jozani Forest is small but beautiful. Only 50km square, the national park encompasses 3 main habitats- tall forest, a less dense/more open area, and the mangrove forest of Chwaka Bay.
The forest is home to 2 types of monkeys, Blue Sykes and Red Colobus. Both are easily found, leaping through the undergrowth, dropping from the trees. Other creatures are a bit harder to spot, especially the birds whose beautiful songs fill the air, but who dwell high in the tree tops for safety.
My guide Issa was really knowledgeable about all the different species in Jozani forest, explaining the many types of trees: mahogany, baobab, Zanzibar apple, guava, papaya, palm, mango, breadfruit, mimosa, and in the mangrove swamp, explaining the 3 different kinds of Mangrove trees.
As well as the monkeys, we saw squirrels, lizards, giant millipedes, beautiful butterflies, 3 types of ants including Safari ants on the move! Issa showed me pictures on his phone of all the birds we could hear up in the trees. In the swamp we saw various types of crab, and fish swimming in the brackish water.
The going is easy, ground is flat, and there is a boardwalk in the mangrove swamp. Roads pass through the forest, and there is a monkey bridge to help them move around safely.
