点评：For quite some time, a friend and I had planned a trip with Hike Chile (Sebastian) to one of the remotest areas in the Argentina/Chilean andes, with no access to water for a long time, and he had stressed (and we agreed) that for that reason we needed two vehicles that are in excellent mechanical condition. We paid roughly USD 11.000 for eleven days as a consequence. At our starting point, San Pedro de Atacama, his team showed up with a stone-age HiLux and a JAC belching clouds of blue smoke. A dozen miles before the proposed based camp, BOTH cars had broken down with engine damage more than a hundred km away from the next human settlement, at an altitude of 4.800m. We were lucky to be exfiltrated, after a while, by some locals from that settlement that friends had managed to reach once alerted by us via (our) sat phone. For the remaining five days, with five persons jammed in one of the cars brought back to temporary life by a makeshift repair (and that lost its cardan shaft on the third day of the return trip!) we struggled back to our departure point in Chile. Very different trip than that we had planned for years, and of course we had missed "our" mountain. The Hike Chile team Sebasatian had commissioned for us was sympathetic and helpful throughout, but their saving a few miserable dollars by showing up with two wrecks on a trip like this, and virtually putting our lives in jeopardy and ruining our trip, shows that their organizers aren't excessively trustworthy, to put it mildly. Sebastian agreed to at least pay us a small refund for what we had been through, but there has been complete radio silence since. E-mails remain unanswered. Overall, not a great experience.
