点评:I felt it was important during my recent visit to just take some time out to also chill by the Seine instead of trying to rush around constantly sightseeing so was delighted to visit the Paris Plages.
We got off the metro at Châtelet and the crossed the road. descending the steps tk the Plages.
Firstly don't go expecting an area of sandy beach. The Plages are basically areas where deck chairs or plastic sunbeds with tables line the banks of the seine allowing you to sit back and watch the passing boats on the Seine or watching people walk, cycle or run along the bank.
There are cafes providing food and drink but equally areas where you can just lie back and enjoy your own picnic like we did.
One of the joys for us was going to the amazing food hall at Galeries Lafayette and choosing what to take for our picnic.
Picnic in hand we then headed to the plages, lay on one of the plastic sunbeds (which are free to use) and just enjoyed the amazing weather.
On walking back , the overhead fine mist of cold water dotted along the plages was so welcomed as it was roasting hot.
Overall the plages was just the perfect spot to chill and despite being around 30ft below a busy road it was a quiet tranquil spot not to be forgotten.
