点评:I was astounded at the sheer number of cars in the bottom and top car parks considering it wasn't school holidays.
Snow wasn't great considering it was only first week of August. Too warm to make snow at night so each day the conditions were deteriorating. There was puddle at the top and bottom of the main chair. For two days it was too windy to operate the chairlifts so there were massive queues for the T bars (30mins) which is long time for kids. And especially when it only takes 1-2 mins to ski back down.
Signage for the runs was very poor, so had to keep getting my phone out to check the online app to see where I was. Even then the app was hard to follow as it wasn't always clear which direction a run was in so it was complicated trying to work out how to get between the resorts if you didn't know them.
The app tracking feature was fun and I did like looking back how many runs I had done and how fast I had gone. But I didn't like having to take my glove off every time I needed to check my phone to look at the map to find out where I was. There were a few dropped phones off chairlifts (not mine thankfully).
Signage for hazards (rocks and holes) was also very poor, so you didn't want to go too fast on runs that you didn't know.
Chairlifts were hard and not very comfortable and not many had foot rests. Staff didn't always help slow them down so some of them really whack hard into your legs.
Lift passes and gear hire seemed very expensive compared to other resorts. Didn't eat at any of the restaurants, so can't comment on those.
Ski school was relatively well organised and staff did well but the level of ability in my son's group was quite varied and he found it too easy and boring because they were limited because some of the other kids couldn't turn. I asked for him to be moved up but they didn't which was annoying. Im sure they have lots of parents telling them that their kid is better than the level that they are in but when I looked at the tracked runs they didn't do anywhere near as much as what I had anticipated that they would. My son liked his instructor though.
The last day we abandoned it early before 11am as the queues were far too long and the snow quality too poor to be bothered waiting 30mins in lift lines. We had only done 4 short runs in nearly 2 hours. We decided to pack up and leave, but then the ski tube had broken down so we had no way of getting back to our car at Bullocks flat. There were a lot of unhappy people who just wanted to leave but were stuck there waiting for a replacement bus service. Eventually this was arranged but took over an hour waiting for a bus. Then took 20 mins to load the bus with everyones luggage and a longer route back . Staff did their best but lots of people were stressing about making flights etc.
Ski tube was expensive too. If I was going again I would have got the bus from Jindabyne instead of using ski tube.
But I wouldn't ski Perisher again anyway. I feel that there are other resorts that offer better value for money with less crowds.
