点评:It’s taken me 20 years and probably 50 trips to the area to finally visit Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum — and in hindsight, I wish we’d gone much sooner. I assumed it might not be very interesting for our son, but I was completely wrong.
There are so many paths to wander through, and exploring the gardens feels like a real adventure. We made our way all the way down to the sea and through the one-way gate — definitely allow at least half a day to enjoy it properly.
The cakes were absolutely delicious, with plenty of gluten-free choices available. I went for the chocolate Guinness cake (not GF!) and it was fantastic — thankfully there are plenty of gardens to help walk it off afterwards. The church is beautiful too, and the kneelers are well worth a look; clearly made by incredibly talented people.
One small thought: I wonder if a tea-and-cake voucher included in admission at a similar price point might encourage more repeat visits and get even more people through the door.
