点评：Iconic describes this waterfall. It is hardly a secret place. Thousands of people hike to this falls and the one above it, Nevada Falls, every year. The hike uphill is unrelenting. It is consistently uphill. Obviously, it will be easier if you are younger. I am not. I am 76 years old. It took me three hours and ten minutes to get to the stairs where the mist hits you, and an hour and a half back down. That's as far as I went. I just wanted to get to that point and then turn around. For comparison, I hiked another 2.8 miles trail in Agate Fossil Beds National Monument that was a gradual incline and parts were level. That took me ten minutes less than two hours for the whole thing. You will see lots of people resting along the way for good reason.
Heads up about parking. As you may already know, parking is a problem since Yosemite is quite popular and this year there were no timed entries. I left Lee Vining around 5 a.m., went across Tioga Pass, and arrived at the parking lot for the Mist Trail around 7 a.m. The parking lot was already about two thirds full even as early as that.
Was it worth the effort? I think so. It is impressive. Keep in mind that I live 30 minutes from the Columbia Gorge, which also has some impressive waterfalls. But even so, this one is in a league by itself Not only do you hear its power, but you get hit with the mist from it while hiking up the stairs; thus the name for the trail: Mist Trail.
The stairs at that point are steep, and can be slippery. There are guard rails in some places. It never hurts to use them if you need them. Plus, unless you are in a hurry for some reason, take your time. Stay safe and enjoy the experience.
