点评：I had the day off from work and since it was a balmy 65 degrees out, my husband and I loaded up the Jeep and headed to Freeman Park.
Freeman Park is an underdeveloped northern most section of Carolina Beach. It's main attraction is it offers 4 x 4 driving on the beach. It boasts 2 miles of dunes, seagrass, and wildlife. They offer off roading, surfing, fishing, kayaking, beachcombing, and horses may be ridden from October to March. Dogs are also allowed on the beach but must be leashed from April to September.
It was a perfect day to be at the beach. The weather was perfect. We had low tide. The water was comfortable enough to stick your toes in. There was maybe a dozen vehicles on the beach. My husband couldn't wait to fish. I was here to take pictures and look for shells. This is the place for shelling. I brought back about 100 beautiful shells of all varieties and sizes. Make sure to bring a bag for your shells.
You can drive around to Masonboro Island.
The only amenities offered are portie potties located at the entrance of the park. The beach is currently undergoing a beach nourishment project, which has limited space during the project. While the project is going on, camping is not permitted. The park is open to anyone. If you wish to drive on the beach, you must purchase a pass. Day passes are available at the entrance. Season passes may be purchased at the town hall. In December, passes are half price.
