Pay $151 to Be Disrespected – Gilson Beach Nightmare

点评：We arrived early at Gilson Beach around 8:00 AM, worried about parking availability. At that time, the ticket office was still closed. A man nearby told us we could go enjoy the beach for now, and that the ticket office would start selling tickets at 10:00 AM.
While my kids played by the water, I didn’t hear any announcement, so I eventually walked over to the ticket window and purchased admission for two adults and two kids $51 in total. As I walked away, it suddenly occurred to me: what about the parking ticket?
I returned to the window and asked. The ticket attendant's tone shifted immediately he seemed oddly pleased and said I hadn’t claimed my parking ticket right after they announced it. I can’t say for certain whether they made an announcement or not, but if they did, it was at very low volume or limited to a small area. It felt like a setup.
He then told me I had to leave the parking area immediately. A so-called manager joined in and told me to “take your car now.” I tried to explain that I hadn’t heard any announcement and had already paid $51 entrance fee. But instead of any understanding, I was hit with a $100 parking penalty. No grace period, no warning, just disrespect.
Driving over 5.5 hours from Louisville to Gilson Beach, I never expected to face this kind of treatment from both the ticket attendant and the manager. Their attitude felt not just unprofessional but racially biased. The disappointment and sadness on my kids’ faces is something I won’t forget.
Long story short: If you want to ruin your vacation, go to Gilson Beach.
A beach should be for the public and free.
